The Crystal Coast is home to many highly-rated, renowned festivals that you will not want to miss this fall! From local food events to those dedicated to flying kites, our stretch of North Carolina will surely be buzzing over the next few months. Below are four events in Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Swansboro and Morehead City that you will not want to miss:
The largest festival in Eastern North Carolina, this seafood-loving event will be held the first weekend in October. The festival offers local and regional entertainment, sailing events, a surf and pier fishing contest, an 8K road race, playground for the kids, FREE Southern Outer Banks Boat Show, fireworks, amusement rides, local vendors and of course, seafood!
Beaufort Wine and Food Chef’s Competition
When: September 29, October 6 and October 12, 2015
Where: The Boathouse at Front Street Village
Just for charity, over a dozen chefs will debut their best dish in this friendly competition! The competition will consist of four rounds— the first three held at the Boathouse at Front Street Village in Beaufort from 7 PM to 9 PM and the final round at the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Those chefs chosen as winners from the first three rounds will donate $500 to a charity and the ultimate winner will receive an additional $1000 to donate.
This festival, as you may have guessed, celebrates all things mullet! This year marks the 60th annual festival in downtown Swansboro and attendees can find mullet any way they like— fried, broiled, grilled, smoked, you name it! The festival will begin Saturday, October 10 with a parade down Highway 24 and continue all weekend with a carnival, arts and crafts, games, music and more.
Carolina Kite Festival
When: October 24 and 25, 2015
Where: “The Circle”
Atlantic Beach, NC
This FREE two-day event is open to the public and is set to be held at the main beach access “The Circle” in Atlantic Beach next month. Here you will see more than 100 kites soaring above, watch kite-flying demonstrations and find kids activities from candy drops to kite-building workshops. You’ll want to witness the masses of kites at this fun festival and take photos of this beautiful fall site!
